A pilonidal cyst is a chronic inflammatory condition in the sacrococcygeal area (in the crease of the buttocks), often caused by ingrown hair. It causes swelling, pain, redness, and periodic discharge of pus or blood.
How we approach it
Treatment includes clinical assessment and laser treatment (SiLaC technique), which cleans the inflamed tissue and seals the interior of the cyst, avoiding large, painful incisions and daily dressing changes.
