The liver is one of the largest and most valuable organs in the body, filtering the blood and regulating essential metabolic functions. We offer a thorough, comprehensive hepatology assessment, aiming to identify the exact cause behind any finding or disorder early, and to recommend the safest and most effective path of treatment or monitoring.
When a hepatology assessment is recommended
- Abnormal liver tests: Raised liver enzymes (transaminases SGOT/AST, SGPT/ALT, γ-GT, bilirubin) found on a routine blood test.
- Fatty liver: One of the most common conditions today, which requires proper staging, lifestyle change and medical monitoring.
- Viral hepatitis: Investigation, monitoring or guidance for chronic infections (such as hepatitis B or C).
- Metabolic syndrome & other conditions: Checking liver function in patients with diabetes, dyslipidaemia or excess weight.
- Monitoring a known condition: Regular follow-up to stabilise or improve existing liver damage.
How the assessment is carried out
- Detailed history & clinical examination: We assess your daily habits, medication, and personal and family history.
- Specialised laboratory & imaging tests: Reviewing your blood markers and, where appropriate, referral for advanced imaging (such as an upper abdominal ultrasound).
- A personalised plan & guidance: We explain the findings to you in detail and plan together the dietary, medical or further investigative steps that are needed.

- GESY beneficiaries: Hepatology assessment and follow-up are provided as usual to beneficiaries of the General Healthcare System.
- Private care: The assessment is also offered privately for non-GESY beneficiaries, overseas residents, or patients who want immediate access and flexible scheduling.
