Laparoscopic Appendectomy

Immediate, minimally invasive surgical treatment of acute appendicitis with fast recovery.

The appendix is a small, tube-shaped organ attached to the caecum (the first part of the large bowel). When it becomes blocked, it causes acute inflammation (appendicitis), a condition that requires immediate medical and surgical assessment. We offer safe, prompt and modern treatment using the laparoscopic method.

When appendectomy is indicated

The procedure is carried out as an emergency or urgent case in the following situations:

  • Acute appendicitis: When there is active inflammation of the organ, presenting with characteristic abdominal pain that starts around the navel and moves to the lower right abdomen, along with nausea, vomiting, a low-grade fever and loss of appetite.
  • Recurrent or chronic appendicitis: In cases of repeated, mild episodes of inflammation that trouble the patient.

The procedure & its advantages

  • Laparoscopic technique: The procedure is carried out through 3 very small abdominal incisions, using a high-resolution camera and fine specialised instruments, allowing precise removal of the inflamed appendix.
  • Minimal pain & fast recovery: Compared with open surgery, the laparoscopic approach offers less post-operative pain, faster mobilisation, a quicker return to daily activities, and an excellent cosmetic result with minimal scarring.
  • A short hospital stay: Hospital stay is minimal (usually 1 day), while our team guides you step by step through the entire post-operative course.
