H. pylori testing & eradication

Targeted diagnosis and effective treatment for the bacterium that causes gastritis and ulcers.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is one of the most common micro-organisms colonising the lining of the stomach. We offer thorough investigation and evidence-based treatment of this bacterium, which is responsible for a large proportion of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcers, and troublesome symptoms such as bloating, heartburn and stomach pain.

Modern diagnostic methods

The right diagnostic method is chosen individually, depending on your clinical profile and history:

  • Biopsy during gastroscopy: The most direct and accurate method, with histological confirmation at the same time.
  • Urea breath test: A completely painless, quick, non-invasive test, ideal both for initial diagnosis and for a reliable re-test after treatment.
  • Stool antigen test: A simple laboratory method for detecting the bacterium, useful when endoscopy is not required.

If the result is positive

  1. Targeted eradication treatment: A specific, strictly defined course of medication (a combination of antibiotics and stomach protection) is prescribed, aiming for complete elimination of the bacterium.
  2. Mandatory re-testing: After treatment, a re-test (usually a breath test) is always recommended to confirm with certainty that eradication has been successful.
  3. A thorough discussion: Your results, what they mean, and the next steps to protect your stomach are explained in detail by our doctors.
