Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to chronic, autoimmune inflammatory conditions of the digestive tract — ulcerative colitis affects the large bowel, while Crohn’s disease can affect any part from the mouth to the anus. It is characterised by chronic diarrhoea (often with mucus or blood), abdominal cramping, fever, weight loss and fatigue, with periods of flare-up and remission.
How we approach it
Diagnosis is based on endoscopy with biopsies, imaging (such as capsule endoscopy for the small bowel where needed), and long-term medical monitoring. Treatment is planned individually, aiming to control inflammation, maintain remission and support your quality of life.
